The Vehicle Upfitter is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and servicing various upfitting components for emergency and specialty vehicles. This includes wiring, lighting, sirens, and other equipment installations necessary for the customization and functionality of vehicles for our customers. The ideal candidate will have experience with automotive electronics and/or vehicle modifications and be committed to maintaining quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Install, integrate, program, maintain, and upgrade emergency lighting, sirens, control systems, and mass notification equipment on public safety and service vehicles.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, test, and repair complex electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, including warranty returns and surface-mount circuitry.
• Perform automotive electronic wiring, equipment installations, and system configuration to ensure reliable operation.
• Provide technical support to fleet managers, law enforcement agencies, and other end-users.
• Communicate product failures and root-cause findings to engineering, quality, and product development teams.
• Maintain accurate service records, work assignments, and inventory documentation.
• Ensure all installations and repairs meet safety, performance, quality, and regulatory compliance standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Strong knowledge of automotive electrical systems, 12V DC circuits, wiring schematics, and electronic diagnostics.
• Experience with electronic repair, soldering, circuit board troubleshooting, and automotive equipment installation.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve hardware and software issues.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with customers, engineers, sales representatives, and internal teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and technical diagnostic tools.
• Ability to work in field and shop environments, lift equipment as needed, perform detailed circuit board work, and travel when required.

Preferred Education & Certifications
• High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school preferred.
• Previous experience with vehicle upfitting, automotive electronics, or a similar field is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, wiring, and diagnostic procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
• Strong attention to detail, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
